Senator Kerry and John Edwards worked very hard at inspiring people to participate in our democratic process, so even if they did not win the Presidential election, they succeeded in that very important task. As we move on to our next big National event we can be proud of what has happened this year with so many new registrations and voters, and thankful that we live in a peaceful, democratic country. Personally, as a permanent alien only, although I do not vote I would have been happier with a change in leaders, but perhaps the closeness of the race, will still cause positive changes to take place anyway. I have been tempted a few times to change my status from a Canadian permanent alien to US citizen, but hesitate for purely sentimental ties to my homeland. I still have the privilege of paying taxes and enjoying all the other benefits of this country so unlike my countrymen Peter Jennings or Jim Carey, or others, I have opted not to seek voting privileges too. I often say to people 'If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem', but from the looks of this year's campaigns and elections we have no shortage of wise people to work on the solutions. I'm also sure God has a reason for the outcome of the election being as it is, and I look forward to and accept whatever it is He has in mind even though I may not see it now.
