What is the Christian attitude towards homosexuality? by Betty Van Volkenburg These are some of the questions we'll explore in a group I'll be leading, based on the book Searching Issues by Nicky Gumbel, which is part of the Alpha Course. In addition to working on The Singles Center, in my spare time, I also work on an internet marketing site, and on a Singles Ministry, and just for grins I added a once a week class (for the next four years) in Education For the Ministry. No - I'm not becoming a minister or priest, just finally getting around to finding out exactly what the Bible is all about and whether or not I'm in danger of going to Hell for my liberal singles lifestyle. Well, according to my teacher, who is also my rector and a single parent too, I'm not in danger of that for my past behaviour, and what my future will be is between God and me. I had hoped for something more concrete, but these Episcopalians don't have those kind of hard and fast rules - just guidelines and then they leave it up to you and God. At least that's my perspective at this time. We'll see what lessons I learn in EFM. I recently came across an ebook 'The Bible, Sex, And This Generation: How God's Word Applies Today' which I will also be reading with one of my discussion groups at SAM's Lambs. I hope it doesn't add to the confusion out there, but time will tell. There seems to be a lot of various interpretations of the Bible even within the same religion so sometimes it's difficult to know what's right to do. Where does faith or spirituality fit in your life, or does it? Are you getting what you need from your religion, and if not, what's the barrier? I'd like to hear your opinions.
