My daughter Candy has joined me in another adventure - this one for money. She has partnered with me in a Gas Saver program where we can not only save money on gas but also make money, and help the environment at the same time.

1)  Just For Fun:

In May it was a pleasure to celebrate Mother's Day weekend with a trip home to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, with my daughter, Candy Pape, my eldest and mother of my only grandchild Bobby. A few years ago the three of us had visited Ottawa but Bobby has moved on to being a student at the University of Buffalo and was engrossed in tasks at college, one of which is being Managing Editor of The Spectrum, the University newspaper. Hmmm, following in Gramma's footsteps??

I usually try to get home to Canada in May for the annual Tulip Festival. While my hometown of Kemptville is actually about 35 miles south of Ottawa, I did work at National Defence HQ for 7 years before marrying a yankee and moving to the US, so Ottawa is my home town too.

Ottawa is a beautiful city and the only one I know of that has 3 official languages - English, French and Cantonese. When I worked and lived in Ottawa I became accustomed to the International flavor with many Natonalities walking the streets in their native costumes. I also enjoyed browsing around Parliament Hill and eating my brown bag lunch on one of the benchs there and relaxing in the peace and quiet of the park like surroundings, and gazing down the hill overlooking the city.

Although I had lived there for 7 years there were a couple of places I did not take the time to see back then. Other twenty-somethings of that era were interested in other things to do also, like the nightlife. But, this time we took the time and toured the Royal Canadian Mint and while there we entered a contest to win a Gold Bar. We're still waiting to hear if we won. The National Art Gallery is just down the street so we also toured that wonderful place and lingered over the Inuit and other Native American art works. Then, we went on to the highlight of our trip - the Tulip displays along Dow's Lake and the Queen Elizabeth Drive.

The displays were breathtaking and I took many pictures, some of which from my last trip you can view  site now and the rest as soon as I get them back form the print shop.  We took pictures of each other amongst the tulips but you won't see those pictures just yet, as we have decided they are going to be our 'before' pictures, and we'll display them when we have our 'after' pictures - after we lose weight.

We stayed at my favorite place, Gasthaus Switzerland on Daly Ave., a converted convent. The Inn is owned by a couple from Europe, one is Austrian and one is Swiss, and they still manage it with their college son who is also helping out, and they don't require proof that you are celebate nuns to stay there. The atmosphere is warm and wonderful and the lavish breakfast, included with the room cost, includes juice, tea or espresso coffee, buns, muffins, eggs, french toast, musli cereal, and various jams and jellies. I've stayed there several times but it was the first for my daughter, and a real treat to her, as well as myself. I much prefer the down home atmosphere of the Inn, to the hustle and bustle of the big Hotels, like the Westin which is also right down town. We were able to leave our car at the Inn and walk to the Mint, Gallery, Parliament Hill, and ByWard market - wonderful outdoor and indoor marketplace full of sights and sounds. I love those outdoor cafes and the real omelettes. In my current home area, so many restaurants serve you flopped over scrambled eggs and call it an omelette which can't compare to the real thing that has been properly prepared with care and artistry.

2)  Making Money is Fun Too:

My daughter Candy has joined me in another adventure - this one for money. She has partnered with me in a Gas Saver program where we can not only save money on gas but also make money, and help the environment at the same time.

If you would like to save money at the gas pumps (and who wouldn't these days!) just go to my information site listed below and sign up as a Preferred Customer and you can save 25% off the retail price of the product when it becomes available for order online. This is a brand new venture and the site is still having additions done to it, but you can get all the information on the product, which has been on the marked for 10 years, but not to the general public. Our US government has been one of the customers, using it in their vehicles to save on gas. Now, I wonder why they didn't share that information with us? But at least it is now finally available to us. If you're interested in making some money too you can upgrade to a distributor if you wish. But at least, take the time to enroll for free so you can purchase at a discount and increase your savings.

A press release was distributed about the 'inveiling' at the Indy 500, but I'm not into Sports so I don't know what the viewers saw on TV or at the race. You can read about it in the Press Release and also get a description of the product, called EthosFR.

Have a great weekend, or week,
and remember His command to us - Love One Another As I Have Loved You
(this applies to Everyone, not just Christians)

What a wonderful world we would have if we all focussed on that command!!
