I) From Our Publisher:

You may not have noticed, but our Singles Courier publication schedule has really slipped lately. My plan was to publish twice a month or more often if there was news. Well, there has been news but my staff of Me, Myself, and I, has been bogged down with offline tasks in addition to the new technical site features I had scheduled to work on. But, chaos has been subdued and we're getting back on schedule to publish updates to the site for December 1st.

The technical modifications are related to finding and installing new Personals, new chat software, new interactive features, and recruiting new chat leaders to 'staff' the chat room, and locate new rewards for our VIP members.

Not all changes will be done on December 1st, but new features will be added twice a month over the next couple of months. One of the most exciting is a new cash reward program that will begin in January. I can't give you the details today as it is brand new and will not be public until mid-January, but all current and future VIP members will receive a very impressive membership reward. Nothing further will be required other than to become VIP members if you are not already one.

Another task on the agenda is to do a Single Lifestyle study and I am looking for people to participate in the study group. The details are being worked out with a research group and will be announced in the Singles Courier and on the Singles Center site in the near future. If you haven't completed the Membership survey yet, now would be a good time, as that will be a starting point for us. If you would like to participate in our study you'll be able to complete a form online when we announce it.

Our Singles Travel Club has been lagging as well, but I now have a Travel Director who will be working on promoting and developing that, so I'm really looking forward to next year and finally being able to do some traveling with our solo travelers.

Well, I think that's enough for now. Scroll down and take a peek at the After Thanksgiving specials - hey, everybody does it, so why shouldn't we get some benefits too.

Until next time,
Betty Van Volkenburg

II) Thanksgiving Rebates

If it's Thanksgiving it must be time for Holiday Shopping sales. Most stores and malls have a one day blast off, but since I know you may be in those crowds, I'm going to give you three days to

save big, and two ways to do it. Sale ends Sunday November 30th at midnight.

1) Shop in Our Galleria of gifts and get a 20% rebate. Our store is not set up for discount coupons but we can send back 20% of your purchase price through your PayPal address. You will also get the standard customer reward of a free gift when you purchase 3 or more gifts. Members save even more, as the members version already has a 15% discount applied.

Visit Our Galleria: http://www.singlescenter.com/Galleria

Members version: http://www.singlescenter.com/members/Galleria

2) Upgrade to paid VIP membership for only $15. ($10 off regular) using our special upgrade payment form. This page will disappear on Sunday November 30.

III) Singles Role Model campaign

Our Role Model campaign is another important project that lagged while I worked on other tasks. But on December 1st the candidate profiles will be published for you to review and vote for your choice of winner for 2003. The winner's favorite charity will receive a donation of $500 from The Singles Center, - and if our new Travel Director is as good as I think, we'll be able to work out a free trip for the winner as well.

If you nominated someone and haven't heard anything so far, you will be receiving a separate update by email or phone. If you want to make a last minute nomination you can do it in our Community Wing.

V) Pat's Corner

You know I always like to end with a Smile, and my friend Pat has been making sure I get plenty of those via her email gleanings. One of her stories is included here, but you can find more on The Singles Center at

HOW TO COOK A BAKED STUFFED TURKEY
(don't try this at home)

15-20 lb. turkey (butter ball or equivalent bird)
1 cup melted butter
2 cups stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good.)
2 cups uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT)
Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.

Listen for the popping sounds. When the turkey's rear end blows the oven door open and the Turkey flies across the room, it is done.

And, you thought I couldn't cook.                             TOP
