Our Nation's First Single President - March 4, 1857
If they had had a fast track in those days James Buchanan would have surely been on it. James was born some time ago near a town in Pennsylvania called Mercerburg. His parents must have gotten along really well, as he was the second of eleven children. 'Course, they grew families a lot bigger back then. His father owned and operated a frontier trading post, which was kind of like the 7-11 of its day, minus the Slurpees of course, and taught his son the ways of business. It was from his mother that young James acquired his strong religious background and a love of learning.
