BV Ventures Publisher of The Singles Center, and Writing Guidelines (At this time we are not accepting submissions for our magazine. However we will resume later this year, and you may use these guidelines for when we do. If you wish you may submit material now, and we will hold for future publication and contact you if your submission will be used.) The Singles Center is a healthy online gathering place for single, widowed, or divorced adults of moderate to high income. Our magazine, Singles, The Magazine for Today's Single, has a healthy focus consisting of free-lance contributions, and we are eager to work with new/unpublished writers. We will pay on publication, at the end of the publish month, and give a byline for department articles. Submit seasonal and holiday material 2 months in advance. Simultaneous, previously published and photocopied submissions are acceptable. All material MUST have a "singles" focus. Publisher owns rights on assigned feature and department articles. Submissions can be submitted by email or to our address above. Send a complete manuscript. We're looking for dynamic, fresh, original copy. Consider your submission as an audition; we'll give assignments to talented writers who submit well-organized material. Identify your sources of quotes and secure releases for profile subjects. Our magazine is a national venture so submissions with a global appeal are preferred. We have no interest in pornography or explicit sexual material. We want articles that offer singles information that they can't find in any other publication. We emphasize an upbeat, positive focus. We seek to enhance single living by offering ways to network, meet, and learn about other singles' lives. Since The Singles Center and Singles, The Magazine for Today’s Single, is intended to be "by singles, for singles" we give preference to single contributors, but we do not strictly limit all of our material to single writers, since all of us started out single. The subject, validity and appropriateness will also be considered. When submitting material, if you have a resume or previously published work, please include or show reference location. NOTE: While we accept unsolicited material, we do not promise to publish everything we receive and we only acknowledge material we use. NON FICTION FEATURES Features are 1500 words or more as a one time article or as a series of 2 or 3, typed and double spaced. Publisher or Editor may assign specific topics on single living. We pay for features, and the amount depends on assignment. Payment is upon publication. Trades of articles for advertising are possible. DEPARTMENT TOPICS: Material by professional/aspiring writers, or by individuals for Personal Stories accepted for payment. We pay $50. for original Department articles of 300 - 500 words, but only $10. for reprint of your own material, upon publication.
